Job Overview

The South African Maritime Safety Authority (SAMSA) is offering internship opportunities for 2024. These internships are designed to provide graduates with hands-on experience in the maritime and related sectors. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in executing daily tasks and projects within designated departments.
  • Support SAMSA’s mandate by working on maritime safety, security, and environmental projects.
  • Conduct research and analysis related to maritime policy, regulations, and safety.
  • Participate in stakeholder engagement activities and attend industry events.
  • Prepare reports, documents, and presentations under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Collaborate with different departments to enhance maritime safety measures.
  • Adhere to organizational policies and procedures while learning industry best practices.

Education Requirements

  • A completed degree or diploma in a relevant field such as Maritime Studies, Environmental Science, Engineering, Law, Public Administration, or other related disciplines.

Experience Requirements

  • No prior experience is required, but any previous internship or volunteer experience in a related field will be advantageous.

Skills Requirements

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent research and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Eagerness to learn and develop new skills.
