Job Overview:
The Dept of Culture, Sports, and Recreation is offering internship opportunities for 2024. This program is designed to provide valuable work experience and professional development to recent graduates and young professionals. Interns will gain insight into the operations of the department and contribute to various cultural, sports, and recreational initiatives.
Position Purpose:
The purpose of the internship is to offer hands-on experience and training in various fields related to culture, sports, and recreation. Interns will support the department’s mission to promote cultural heritage, encourage sports participation, and enhance recreational activities for the community.
Duties And Responsibilities:
- Assist in the planning and execution of cultural events and sports activities.
- Support the development and implementation of recreational programs.
- Conduct research and compile reports on various cultural, sports, and recreational topics.
- Aid in the promotion and marketing of departmental initiatives through social media and other channels.
- Provide administrative support, including data entry, filing, and correspondence.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to brainstorming sessions.
- Engage with community members and stakeholders to gather feedback and promote departmental programs.
Education Requirements:
- Must be a recent graduate (within the last 2 years) with a degree or diploma in one of the following fields: Sports Management, Recreation, Cultural Studies, Event Management, Public Administration, Marketing, or a related discipline.
Experience Requirements:
- Prior experience through internships, volunteer work, or part-time jobs in related fields is preferred but not mandatory.
- Experience in event planning, community outreach, or project management will be an added advantage.
Skills Requirements:
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
- A passion for culture, sports, and recreation.
