Position Purpose

The CIPC Internship Programme aims to equip recent graduates with the practical knowledge and skills required to excel in the fields of company law, intellectual property, and business regulations. Interns will work alongside experienced professionals on real-world projects, contributing to the CIPC’s goals while building a strong foundation for their future careers.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Duties will vary depending on your educational background, but may include:
    • LLB Interns: Assisting legal professionals with company registration processes, conducting legal research, and drafting reports on relevant legislation.
    • Para-Legal Interns: Supporting lawyers and legal staff with administrative tasks related to company registrations, intellectual property matters, and client inquiries.
    • Economics Interns: Conducting research and analysis on economic trends impacting business registrations and intellectual property within South Africa.
  • All interns will have the opportunity to:
    • Participate in meetings and presentations to gain a comprehensive understanding of CIPC’s operations.
    • Assist with the development and implementation of CIPC initiatives or campaigns (depending on the internship focus).

Education Requirements

  • LLB Interns: A completed Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree.
  • Para-Legal Interns: A completed Diploma or Advanced Certificate in Paralegal Studies.
  • Economics Interns: A completed Bachelor’s Degree in Economics or a related field.

Experience Requirements

  • No prior experience is necessary, but a strong academic record and a keen interest in business law, intellectual property, or economic regulations (depending on your chosen field) are preferred.

Skills Requirements

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong analytical and research skills, with an aptitude for learning new concepts.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and a willingness to learn new technologies.
