Position Purpose:

The Department of Transport Internship Programme aims to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical, on-the-job experience. Interns will be given the opportunity to apply their academic skills in real-world projects and gain valuable insights into the operations of a government agency responsible for managing national transport systems, including road, rail, air, and maritime transport.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the development, implementation, and evaluation of transport policies and strategies.
  • Support the management of transport infrastructure projects, including roadworks, rail expansion, and airport enhancements.
  • Provide research assistance in transport planning, data analysis, and project management.
  • Collaborate with various departments to support regulatory processes and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Assist in the development and management of public transportation programs aimed at improving accessibility and sustainability.
  • Contribute to the preparation of reports, presentations, and other documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in public consultations and engagement activities to promote transport projects and policies.

Education:

  • Applicants must have a completed Bachelor’s Degree or be in their final year of study in one of the following fields:
    • Transport Management
    • Civil Engineering
    • Logistics and Supply Chain Management
    • Urban Planning
    • Environmental Science
    • Public Administration
    • Economics
    • Geography or any related discipline.

Experience:

  • No prior work experience is required, but experience in transport, logistics, or infrastructure-related internships is an advantage.
  • Candidates should be passionate about transport development and have a keen interest in public service and policy implementation.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of transport policies, sustainability practices, and regulations is a plus.
