Job Overview
The South African National Space Agency (SANSA) is offering exciting Internship Programs for Graduate Students in 2024. This program provides a unique opportunity for recent graduates to engage in cutting-edge space and aerospace projects, contributing to SANSA’s mission to advance space science and technology. Position Purpose
The SANSA Internship Program aims to support the professional development of graduate students by providing practical experience in space science, satellite operations, and aerospace technology. Interns will contribute to ongoing research and development projects, helping to advance SANSA’s goals while acquiring valuable skills and insights into the space industry.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with research and development activities related to space science and satellite technology.
- Support the analysis and interpretation of data from satellite missions and space observations.
- Participate in the design, implementation, and testing of new space technologies and systems.
- Contribute to the preparation of technical reports, presentations, and documentation.
- Engage in project meetings and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Help with the maintenance and operation of space-related equipment and software tools.
- Perform administrative tasks as required, including data entry and record-keeping.
Education
- Recently completed or currently pursuing a Master’s or Doctoral degree in a relevant field such as Aerospace Engineering, Space Science, Astrophysics, Satellite Technology, or a related discipline.
Experience
- Relevant academic coursework or research experience in space science, aerospace engineering, or related areas.
- Previous internship or project experience in a technical or research setting is advantageous but not required.
Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and relevant technical software (e.g., MATLAB, Python).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Basic understanding of space science concepts and satellite systems is beneficial.
