Job Description
Shoprite is seeking motivated individuals for its Trainee Operator Internship Programme for 2024/2025. This role provides first-line technical support and problem-solving, working closely with internal and external stakeholders to deliver effective solutions. The Trainee Operator will assist in monitoring the health of the data center and escalate issues as necessary, reporting directly to the Team Leader.
Responsibilities
- Monitor operating systems frequently and promptly.
- Support the team in executing system backups.
- Oversee store data interchange monitoring.
- Assist in data recovery and disaster recovery processes.
- Support generator and UPS testing.
- Proactively ensure backup media is moved offsite.
- Maintain operation of network and system monitoring systems for stakeholders.
- Continuously monitor clients’ infrastructure.
- Respond to exceptions timely according to Service Level Agreements (SLA).
- Participate in system and server monitoring.
- Develop awareness of various IT technologies.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum of Grade 12 (essential).
- Advantageous: Certificate, Degree, or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Networking, Database, or a related field.
Experience
- Exposure to monitoring and operational tools such as SAP and Linux is beneficial but not mandatory.
